Stackable (desirable) Rings

I feel like I have to share these with you.

Unfortunately these do not belong to me… Unfair I know…they do in fact belong to my sister's fingers!

These pieces of jewellery bliss were hand made (yes HANDMADE from silver) by the up and coming New Zealand designer Rebecca Stickney.

Check out the gorgeous mix of textures from smooth edges to the rougher organic feel of silver clay.....gorg!!!!

Notice the Tempest inscription.... (my sister... ever the actress and theatre lover... picked the quote and the designer did the rest).

 Always on the look out Runway Girly has discovered the wondrous TOME.

This brand has some serious cache. Created by Ryan Lobo,  (former stylist at Pagesdigital) and Ramon Martin, (THE former Design Director at Derek Lam). FANTASTIC credentials.

TOME is all about a utilitarian style that is balance through its use of luxe fabrics and richness of tone. Think Celine with a hint of Chloe.

TOME is an attitude, a way of thinking/dressing. The TOME woman is confident to wear paired down tailored looks that whisper....rather than scream fashion.

LOVE this execution of minimalism, above.  The mix of crisp shirting with leather is the perfect balance of vixen... (dare I say fetishism, a nod to the black leather daytime looks of A/W'12 seen at Balmain, Alexander Wang and the usually girly Erdem)....and the demure.

The practically backless first dress? Insanely brilliant. Spot the hint of lace to add femininity to an otherwise geometric gown. GENUIS GENUIS GENUIS

Oh the weather outside is frightful......but the footwear's so delightful! Check out A/W!

Since the weather outside is truly awful and not living up to its Summer promise I have decided to pack up the summer wardrobe and invest for the Winter. Starting with footwear! 

Yes there are the usual trends, Military, pointed toes, studs.... (HURRAH, just check out Valentino, everything from bags to shoes covered in little golden embellishments!)..etc


 But I'm here to introduce my favs and more exciting prospects for A/W 2012.

  Trend 1: Mixed Media (Runway Girly's top pick)

I feel that designers wanted to play and get creative after all those girly pretty pastels of Spring Summer.

Here anything goes. Mix woven leather with suede, velcro and plastic... the crazier the combination the better.

Runway Girly’s pick is Proenza Schouler updated hybrid high tops, the comfy choice for height...peep toes, sporty Velcro straps and a statement cobalt heel.
Perfect way to toughen up S/S floaty dresses....helping you get more out of that redundant Summer wardrobe.

Trend 2: Ye Old shoes

It’s the shoes of the past that have caught the designer’s attention, think Shakespeare, Pepys and 'Thanks Giving' suppers.

Marc Jacob's Pilgrim shoe…..not totally convinced but if it were flat and metallic I might change my mind. It's the Alexa Chung type choice....a nerdy secretary look.

Trend 3: The Oxford….still hugely popular, seen on countless catwalks... "thank god for flatties at last" say the models.

Trend 4: All Tied Up

Here Balenciaga has taken the sporty trend of high tops and translated it to an evening shoe. 

This tied up look could translate to everything from boots, heels even flats.

Trend 5: The Up dated Glass slipper, it's Lace, slightly more durable!

Ok, ok this was from Valentino's Fall Couture Show but a girl can dream.
Just imagine these with a little dress and a cropped jacket, or in black with jeans.
Maybe it's the little girl inside me still wanting to play dress up.

Previously worked as assistant to the Epic footwear genius that is Nicholas Kirkwood. Her experience has paid off and I can guarantee we will see these Technicolor artworks everywhere.

….Plus when the weather is as bad as it is, running through the rain in a pair of her creations might bring a smile to the wettest of faces!

As you know print is BIG for A/W’12. From the Geometric prints of Prada to the otherworldly looks of Mary Katrantzou.

Can't keep this to myself any longer!!! Janina Alleyne look out for her. Her “Exoskeleton” shoe collection was breathtaking, a highlight of Graduate Fashion Week. 

Not since McQueen’s Armadillo shoes have I been so mesmerized by footwear. Shock....at their beauty and architectural structure. While Alexander's was mind blowing, (more for the models risking death on the runway, or at least broken ankles) Janina's looked fairly wearable, (more the one below, for me at least.) 

Maybe not shoes for dog walking but accessorized with a gown at the Met? A most definite YES.

 Quick flight back to London to witness the talent of tomorrow, Graduate Fashion Week.

I was  lucky enough to get tickets to watch the Edinburgh College of Art fashion show.

Truly inspiring.

One of the highlights was Jacob Birge.  A visual display of escapism. Futurism/armour/Sci-fi. I couldn’t help but think of McQueen’s Aliens of S/S 2010. While his was about aquatic, underwater creatures Jacob focused on dark, structured minimalism. A modern approach to armory, beautifully constructed. 

I can imagine Daphne Guinness rocking this look perfectly.

 But who could forget EVA NG……what a perfect name to start with!

Her collection balanced the art of tailoring with drape and the results were stunning. A modern Roland Mouret mixed with the sexy aesthetic of Gucci. A name to remember and look out for.

 But which designer would I buy from now? That would have to be Lyndsay McNeill. More like watching London or New York Fashion Week than Graduate. Her collection focused on soft relaxed tailoring. A modern working womans wardrobe. Think Chloe with a hint of Paul Smith. 

Wearable. Wonderful. WANTABLE.

Hello there world. Sorry for the HUGE gap in posts. Truly no excuse can be good enough. My only justification is that I have been literally working not stop on uni finals…..but now I can return to pure fashion indulgence.
